For a while, I had been toying with the idea of building a food truck with my wife, and trying to include a couple of friends in the project, to tour regional festivals. What could be better than combining pleasure and work during the quieter periods of my other business?

In February 2020, one of my suppliers informed me that he was selling his rental equipment for food concessions. Without hesitation, I jumped at the opportunity and acquired a lot of equipment for our future food truck: different machines to create happiness: popcorn, kettle corn, cotton candy, snow cones, slush, you name it!

We had everything we needed to start our new project, including the little push to take action!

Plot twist, in March 2020, an inconvenient global event that you may have heard of came along and complicated things. All festivals were cancelled… And here I had just invested thousands of dollars in equipment that I planned to take to festival sites!

We rolled up our sleeves and, to pass the time during a few lockdowns, we started doing flavor tests, just for fun.

At the beginning of the summer of 2020 and for a period of about 6 months, my wife, who is a nurse, brought my “creations” to her colleagues and distributed them for free to get their feedback.

Given the interest in our concoctions, we took it seriously and built a production space that met food safety standards. A small additional investment that led us to finally come up with our name, create our logo, and, after some hesitation, order printed bags.

Today, “Monsieur S’éclate” is sold in about fifty retail locations! We continue to work/play diligently and test new recipes for young and old alike!
